Venezuelans who are in the country and who comply with presidential decree 826 , have until March 31, 2020 to apply for the Exception Visa for Humanitarian Reasons ( Verhu ). Only then will they regularize their immigration status in the country.
Decree 826 states that immigration amnesty will be granted to Venezuelan citizens who have not violated the laws of Ecuador. To those who have entered the country through the migration control points to the Ecuadorian territory until the effective date of the decree.
Also for those who, having entered the country regularly, through immigration control points , are in an irregular migratory condition because they have exceeded the period of stay granted on the date of entry into force of the decree.
To provide timely assistance to this community, interested in regularizing, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility will hold two Facebook Live sessions a week.
These will serve to solve doubts about the application process to Verhu visas . The online support sessions will be held with experts in the field, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, at 11:00.
Additionally, for this regularization process, 17 immigration support services are enabled, which citizens can access for free, and have the assistance of trained personnel.
In 2019, Japan donated $ 3.2 million to the country to feed Venezuelan emigrants arriving in the country. “This helps, and much, the efforts of the Government of Ecuador to ensure that Venezuelan migration in our country is a safe migration,” said Foreign Minister José Valencia, in November 2019.
However, this humanitarian aid program will end this March, which also ends the humanitarian visa process .
