Dialogues between Venezuela’s government and opposition are suspended
The Venezuelan opposition suspended the technical meetings of the dialogue process that were scheduled to be held with government representatives.
The measure was taken as a rejection of the recent actions from the authorities against a march of university students and by the dismantling of the four opposition camps, announced an opposition leader.
The meetings of the dialogue process working groups, which were scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, were suspended unilaterally by the called Democratic Unity Table, said on Monday night the Deputy Executive Secretary of the block, Ramon José Medina.
Medina added that another reason was a recent statement by the President of the National Assembly, Diosdado Cabello, who announced that he would retain the presidency of the commission that will investigate the events of the last three months, rejecting a demand made by the opposition to seek an independent person for that position.
