Diving attracts 15% of tourists arriving in the Galapagos
Ecuadornews:
The tourist market in the Galapagos Islands becomes attractive for those who operate the diving activity. Although this generates the need to implement management tools that prevent the deterioration of the 68 sites of the Marine Reserve intended for recreational diving.
This was analyzed by insular operators in a workshop held in recent days for operators of the daily dive tour activity and guides of the Galapagos Marine Reserve. Technicians from the Insular Zone Coordination of the Ministry of Tourism explained the importance of preparing to enter or consolidate in international markets through tourism fairs.
According to data from the Galapagos Tourism Observatory, about 15% of tourists arriving at the islands are attracted by the diving activity for the sighting of species such as sharks, penguins, iguanas, octopuses, exotic fish and an infinite number of invertebrates. (I)
