Ecuadornews:
Deputy Minister of Integral Health Care at the Ministry of Public Health (MSP)
Patricia Granja explained that the flip chart serves to reinforce the promotion of breastfeeding. “Unicef provided us with 13,000 copies.“
The launch is part of the strategies promoted by the MSP, including the creation of 13 breast milk banks in the country. To date, these centers have received a donation of 15,000 liters.
“The fact that the breastfeeding week ends does not mean that it is no longer a principal axis. Breastfeeding is one of the main measures to reduce child malnutrition,” she said.
The material will be distributed in first level health centers and hospitals nationwide. Pamela Piñeiros, a specialist at the MSP’s health promotion department, explained that the flip chart would allow health professionals to prepare for counseling. “They have a weekly methodological guide on gestation and controls for pregnant women.” (I)
