Dozens of mothers gave birth in the new Women´s Hospital
The Women’s Hospital Alfredo G. Paulson opened its doors in on Monday, four days after its inauguration. Mothers and infants admitted to the obstetrician-gynecologist Hospital Enrique Sotomayor were transferred from that day to new facilities in the Atarazana citadel, next to the Roberto Gilbert Elizalde pediatric unit.
The first babies were born there, but the administrative authorities will announce today just how many childbirths took place the first two days. Until yesterday at 13:00 there were 40 mothers with their children and 6 more in a recovery room of one of the hospitalization areas, according to medical staff.
Nathaly Chavez gave birth to her second child by a c-section, at 00:30 yesterday, at the new facilities. She arrived on Monday, after a fluid loss, to the emergency unit of the maternity hospital Enrique Sotomayor, located in downtown and which will close its doors. At 17:30 she was transferred to the new hospital.
