Duran insists on taking control of the terminal

Users complain about the deterioration of the facilities and the Municipality regrets that seven months after requesting the transfer has not materialized.

The intervention of the land terminal of Durán announced in March does not materialize. The users, rather, consider that since then there is more deterioration.

“The stench of the toilets invades the facilities and the faucets without water only accumulate tartar,” says Israel Bustamante, a student at the University of Milagro, who has to pass through the site every day.

Bustamante also complains because “the dust raised by the buses contaminates everything, even the fried foods” that are sold in the corridors.

In a tour of newspaper El telegrafo corroborated the existence of gaps in the platforms and deterioration in the asphalt folder in accesses and exits of the terminal. Like Bustamante, María Villamar uses Duran’s terminal every day.

She resides in Milagro, but studies Business Administration in Samborondón. Villamar regrets the abandonment of the facilities and the lack of security. “At night the antisocials disguise themselves as vendors to assault. It is very dangerous especially for women who travel alone, “says the young woman.

Guido Flores works on this site as a taxi driver since 2012 when the building was inaugurated. The driver mentions that there is no control in the terminal for informal drivers who enter freely and who, according to him, contribute to the insecurity.

Gina Macías, manager of the Municipal Public Transit and Mobility Enterprise of Duran, says that the Municipality has made arrangements to administer the site, but that the Ecuadorian Transit Commission has not delivered the administrative or economic of the site.

“Seven months have passed since the first formal meeting for the transfer process and it has not yet been executed,” the official acknowledges. For Macias it is basic to know what assets the terminal has to start a management model.
