U.S. health authorities, due to the outbreak of the Ebola virus, warned that the disease could spread rapidly. Therefore, they recommended for those traveling to West Africa to take precautions.
The Ebola virus is transmitted by direct contact with blood, body fluids or tissues from infected people or animals.
The symptoms of the epidemic are bleeding, vomiting and diarrhea. Its mortality rate is between 25% and 90% and there is still not a vaccine for the virus.
Since March, there have been 1,201 cases of infected people and 672 deaths in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
