Javier Ponce, Ecuador’s Defense Minister could sign a contract for $200 million to Russia for “military technical cooperation.”
“(…) We are working on a project to increase our ground forces. (…) The transfer of technologies is the key objective,” said Ponce to the Russian news Russia Today arguing that negotiations with Russia are most important for his country in the military.
Last January, Ecuador acquired two Russian helicopters Mi-171E for the transportation of troops under the strategic partnership agreement between the two countries in 2009. (BG)
