Ecuador Became the Third Largest Exporter of Flowers in the World

From January to November 2010, Ecuador sold $586 million on flowers, with this the country has become the third largest exporter of the world.
Ecuador Flower Exporters Association (Expoflores) announced that the 41.8% of the sales were for the United States, Russia bought 21.2%, and Netherlands 9.4%.
According to the United Nations Statistics Division, Ecuador has a 7% of the international market and it is the third largest exporter of flowers in the world, surpassed by Netherlands that is the first exporter and Colombia, which is the second.
The country has 116 certified flower farms, which comprise 660 hectares and are worked by 20,492 employees.
