Ecuador congratulates Xi Jinping for his re-election as president of China

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility of Ecuador today congratulated Xi Jinping on his reelection as president of the People’s Republic of China in the plenary session of the 13th National Popular Assembly of that country.

“Ecuador salutes the result and highlights the valuable collaboration of the Chinese people and their Government in the reconstruction of the areas affected by the 2016 earthquake that in non-reimbursable cooperation is greater than 150 million dollars,” reads a statement from the Ecuadorian Foreign Ministry.

The document refers to the Chinese contribution to the reconstruction of the areas affected by the earthquake that in 2016 devastated a good part of the provinces of Manabí and Esmeraldas, in the northwest coast of Ecuador.

The note mentions that in 2016, Ecuador and China raised the level of their bilateral relationship to that of “integral strategic association, in order to deepen the existing cooperation ties in all areas of common interest.” (I)
