Ecuador could export energy to Chile
Ecuadornews:

The president of Ecuador, Lenin Moreno, met with his Chilean counterpart, Sebastián Piñera, to address issues related to the Andean electricity interconnection, the Llurimagua-Codelco mining project, investment treaties and air connectivity. The meeting was held on the occasion of the presence of both leaders in Bogota to participate in the investiture ceremony of the new president of Colombia, Iván Duque.
In this hearing the state of the Andean Electrical Interconnection System (Sinea) was analyzed, which will allow Ecuador to export energy to Chile in the future, for which joint tasks must be implemented. These actions seek to position the country as a potential exporter of clean energy in the region.
Another of the aspects aimed at generating employment in Ecuador is the mining development. Chilean Minister of Mining, Baldo Prokurica, will visit Ecuador in September to supervise the progress of the works that are being carried out at the Llurimagua-Codelco mining project in Imbabura.
Regarding the air connection, the presence – in Ecuador – of Chilean airlines such as Latam and Sky Airline will be promoted. Latam has shown interest in opening new schedules and nonstop flights Quito-Santiago; while Sky Airline, domiciled in Chile, could initiate low-cost flights in Ecuador, following the adoption of the open skies policy promoted by the National Government, in January 2018.
The team of agents Moreno and Piñera anticipated that the 5th meeting of the Bilateral Interministerial Council, chaired by the foreign ministers of the two countries, will be held in Santiago, Chile, and will include the exchange of positive experiences in child development policies, aimed at strengthening the Technical Secretariat of the Plan Lifetime.
After the appointment, Moreno attended the ceremony of possession of Iván Duque as the new President of Colombia and the official greeting of the delegations present, which took place at the Casa de Nariño. (I)
