Ecuador has luxury prices

Daily Expreso has developed a list of 17 products that any citizen needs (excepting the case of sanitary pads) in their everyday and buys regularly. The bill, of supermarkets of the same rank in four countries, has been higher in Ecuador than in others.
An Ecuadorian citizen would pay $ 76.43 in his country, while in the United States he would save a little more than one dollar ($ 75.18), in Spain he would pay $ 60.02 (the exchange rate has been applied), in Colombia, $ 60.33, and in Peru, 69.37 dollars.
The price difference is covered by the fact that 12 of the 18 products are more expensive in Ecuador than two or three of the other countries. There is only one case in which the country exceeds the costs of the four countries taken as a reference for their proximity and because they are migrant destinations: a “six pack´ of an international beer brand.
