Ecuador Will debut its First Satellite To Look At Earth From Space
Today Ecuadorian Civilian Space Agency (EXA) officially introduced its first national satellite, called SEN-01 Mission Pegasus. It is estimated that this satellite, “Cube-sat” type, drafter in large scale by local domestic technology itself, will by send in 2012.
The institution, led by cosmonaut from Guayaquil, Ronnie Nader, devised this team for their countrymen, especially students, so that they can look at Earth from space. First objective of this project is “to prove that our national satellite technology works, “meaning that we know to navigate in space, we can send videos in real time and verify that “we do satellites.”
Pegasus Mission initially was planned to be ready in 2016, nevertheless, “in 2009 we realized we could do it before, then we did the Hermes project, which is the earth station, whose reason was the Pegasus Project” said astronaut.
The construction of this satellite began in 2010 when studies, testing and set up activities were performed and a laboratory was created in which five engineers worked directly and another ten with funding support from a company that produces natural juices.
