Ecuador will lead the Postal Union of the Americas, Portugal and Spain
The Ecuadorian Foreign Ministry reported yesterday in a press release, that the country will occupy the general secretariat of the Postal Union of the Americas, Spain and Portugal (Upaep) during the period 2014-2017.
Roberto Cavanna Merchán, general manager of the Public company Correos del Ecuador, was chosen as the Secretary general, and won with 19 of the 27 votes cast in the election to designate this position, held in the 22nd Congress of the Organization, which was held in Havana (Cuba) from September 9 to 13.
Cavanna will work to strengthen relations between country members through the standardization of processes to improve the quality and security of service, thus implies the release.
The Upaep is a body joined to the Universal Postal Union, which aims to strengthen the Organization, improving postal services and promoting international cooperation in postal matters of the 27 Member States.
