Ecuadorian is Vice President of worldwide cocoa committee
The International Council of the International Cocoa Organization (ICCO), which met this week in London, appointed Luis Valverde, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Ecuador, as Vice President of the World Economic Committee for the period 2014-2015.
The functions of Valverde will be multiple and shall seek to promote the development of the cocoa sector. Among the competences of the committe vice presidency of ICCO are: examining the statistics related to the product, as their production and consumption, stocks and grindings, international trade and cocoa prices.
The ICCO is a global organization composed by cocoa producers and consumers member countries. It was established in 1973 to enforce the first International Cocoa Agreement, which was negotiated in Geneva at the International Cocoa Conference of the United Nations.
