Ecuadorian Navy thwarts possible dispatch of illegal substances

Staff of the Ecuadorian Navy reported today they stopped a vessel in which fuel, food and communication equipment were found.
According to information provided by the Narcotics Investigation Unit of the National Police and the Army of Colombia, the ship would have sailed from southern Colombia and was supposedly going to be used for the transport of controlled substances.
Boats of the Coast Guard “Chone River” and “Rio Cayapas” in addition to the naval helicopter HN-317 were deployed, which had the support of the northern command of operations and the San Lorenzo Marine Corps battalion.
According to the report, the vessel was abandoned when noticing the presence of a Navy helicopter.
