According to the Russian state news agency Ria-Novosti and AFP, which quoted the speaker of parliament, Alexei Pushko, the former analyst of the CIA, Edward Snowden, would have accepted the offer of asylum in Venezuela.
On Monday, June 8, the government of Venezuela received the request of asylum from Snowden, through a letter. The current president of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, said he received the document and hoped that Snowden decides to choose Venezuela or any other country that offered him protection.
“Since we got the letter requesting asylum (…) he will have to decide when to fly, if he wants to finally fly here,” said Maduro Monday at the Miraflores Palace, the seat of the presidency in Caracas.
