El Universo Case: Aedep Asks to Cease Sue Against El Universo
The hearing to resolve the requests and appealing to the sentence against El Universo case made by the Ecuadorian president Rafael Correa. The hearing was postponed until September 13 by the Second Criminal Chamber that handles the case.
The motive for the postponed because the new deputy judge Henry Moran recently replaced Stevie Gamboa, and now it requires time to study the case. The time and place for the hearing remains the same. It will be at 10:00 am at the auditorium of the Provincial Directorate of the Transitional Council of the Judiciary.
Hours before the notification of the hearing date, the Ecuadorian Association of Newspapers Editors (Aedep its Spanish acronym) presented the Chamber of the Second Board a document that requested that the complaint presented by Correa be dismissed. Aedep states that the complaint and the verdict “are based on a norm made by a constitutional disposition.” (AV)
