Elections in Pedernales and Lomas will be held this Sunday

The cantons Lomas de Sargentillo, Guayas province, and Pedernales, in Manabi, will go back to the polls on March 30 between 07:00 and 17:00. Thus, the National Electoral Council (CNE) decided yesterday night to welcome the ruling by the Electoral contentious Tribunal (TCE).

The dignities of prefect and Vice-prefect, Mayor, urban and rural counselors, and parish counselors will be chosen. Regarding the case of Manabi, last Friday, three of the five judges of the ECA accepted the recourse of nullity raised by the candidate to the Avanza´s Mayor, Oscar Arcentales.

The reason is that in the last February 23th elections in the rural parishes of Cojimies, Atahualpa, 10 de Agosto and Serrano and Naranjo Canaveral enclosures, suffrage began between 13:00 and 14:00 because electoral material was incomplete.

Manuel Panezo, candidate for re-election of the Pedernales Mayor for the PAIS-Unidad Primero (35-65) party, commented that TCE was attached to the law and at the same time, made a call for people of that canton to vote on the date the National Electoral Council stablishes.
