Environmental license to explore copper in Íntag is approved
The Deputy Minister of Environment, Lorena Sanchez, approved the environmental license to allow the National Mining Company (Enami) and the Chilean company Codelco resume advanced exploration activities in the Llurimagua project.
This mining project is located in the parishes García Moreno and Peñaherrera in Cotacachi (Imbabura) and has an area of 4,839 hectares.
The license stipulates the accomplishment of the Environmental Impact study by the Enami and a continuous monitoring program of the measures envisaged by the Environmental Management Plan. Moreover, the results shall be submitted every six months to the Ministry of Environment.
The Environment Ministry also said that although the license covers 4839 acres, Enami will only intervene in 700.
