EU treamlines customs system to facilitate trade
Yesterday the European Commission approved its proposal to simplify and modernize the integrated customs system of the European Union in order to facilitate international trade.
With this payment processes of fees and the requirements will be harmonized to obtain the entry authorizations, which will be valid throughout the EU once obtained.
The computerized databases will be coordinated in order to exchange information in the twenty eight countries of the union, so that the work becomes easier and to combat the smuggling of illegal products more effectively.
16% of world trade passes through the community customs, which represents more than 2,000 million products a year, according to data from the communitarian Executive. The Commissioner for Economic Affairs said that the trade and also the safety of European products will improve.
