Syrian government declared today persona non grata to ambassadors of Spain, United States, the United Kingdom, Turkey, France, Italy and Switzerland, as well as diplomats from several European and American countries.
The Foreign Ministry took this step to be reciprocal with many countries that did the same with Syrian ambassadors and representatives.
To the representatives of the mentioned seven countries are added diplomats from Germany, Canada, Bulgaria and Belgium. Last May, those countries, plus Japan, Holland and Australia, expelled the Syrian ambassador and diplomats in protest of the Houla Massacre. (MZ)
