Expectation of State suppliers for payments

Posted On 25 Jan 2016

Juan Cotumba has lived for over 30 years in the Quijos-Huaico sector, in the Napo Province. Most of the time he has been devoted to agriculture and masonry tasks. However, in 2012 he was hired by the Astec company, in charge of supervising the Quijos Hydroelectric Project.

This plant, however, paralyzed last December following the departure of the CNEEC Chinese firm, which was declared by the state as a defaulted contractor.

This caused that the Astec company terminates the employment relationship with Conumba and about 40 employees more. They say they did not receive their severance payment and a half months’ salary.
