Exploitation of Yasuni would be priority for the Government
According to government calculations, it is estimated that the development of the Ishpingo, Tambococha and Tiputini (ITT) fields is the most feasible project in oil revenues in short term and that would guarantee better economic returns.
These fields located in the Yasuni National Park are subject to exploitation, competing with other four projects that the Government has on agenda to maintain and increase oil production, the main export item of the country.
The four projects are: Pungarayacu field, the improved recovery of Petroamazonas mature fields, the exploitation of new reserves of the Sacha field and the development of the blocks of the Southeast.
Against these projects, the ITT could be exploited in less time and have a significant impact on oil production for having larger reserves (920 million barrels).
In this sense, ITT oil project would be the most feasible, as long as it is not suspended by a referendum.
