Fair seasons for the two most important products of Ecuador. Locally and internationally, shrimp and bananas catch up on technological innovation and market needs.
The National Chamber of Aquaculture (CNA) confirmed that from October 25 to 28, 2021, the “most important shrimp technical commercial event on the continent”, Aquaexpo 2021, will be held in person at the Guayaquil Convention Center.
The Shanghai International Fisheries and Seafood Exhibition is on pause until 2022 (a new date is pending for this year or next); mas no Conxemar, in Vigo, Spain, which will take place from October 5 to 7, 2021. And China Fisheries & Seafood Expo-Qingdao (China) will have shrimp farmers from October 27 to 29, 2021.
Meanwhile, banana growers are getting ready for two of the most important events in the world: Fruit Attraction 2021, which will take place in Madrid from October 5 to 7, 2021, and Fruit Logistic in Germany, which will be in February 2022.
ProEcuador has an important list for the remainder of the year, and the Anuga fair in Hamburg will be held from October 9 to 13 for various sectors.
And from October 20 to 23, several companies with their brands will be in Canton, China, at the Macao International Trade and Investment Fair MIF, which will be multisectoral.
Paris, with its Chocolate Show from October 28 to November 1, is ideal for cocoa and its products. And a few days later, in Shanghai, national businessmen will travel to the China International Import and Export (CIIE) event, scheduled from November 5 to 10, 2021.
Ecuador produces bananas throughout the year and with better quality due to its geographical location. However, “it is necessary to continue positioning ourselves in world markets, so participation in international fairs is an important tool for the promotion and internationalization of our fruit,” the executive director of Acorbanec (Association of Marketing and Exportation of Banana), Richard Salazar Veloz.
It is this, he points out, the propitious scenario to carry out market intelligence, technological surveillance, establish commercial contacts (attract new clients or solidify relationships with current clients), to increase sales or position a brand, as well as direct contact with retailers, European authorities, NGOs,
There are 13 companies from the union that will participate with two of their own stands at Fruit Attraction 2021, “strengthening the presence of Ecuadorian bananas at said fair”, together with Corpei and AEBE (Association of Banana Exporters), who will also be present.
The investment that Acorbanec has estimated in its two pavilions is $ 250,000. A similar investment would make Corpei, where other national companies will be.
Salazar indicates that “this fair is strategic not only because of the location, but also because of the date, conducive to the closing of contracts with our foreign clients. It will be the ideal space to reconnect with the main players in the fruit and vegetable marketing chain in Europe and other regions. Its ability to promote world exports makes this fair the ideal commercial connection point”.
According to Corpei, 45 Ecuadorian companies exporting bananas and exotic fruits will be part of Fruit Attraction. And for Eduardo Egas, its executive president, the event represents a challenge and opportunity to “reinvent ourselves as a country” in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ecuador, due to the restrictions imposed by Russia in the face of the health crisis, is not participating in the World Food Moscow, which takes place from September 21 to 24. According to ProEcuador’s schedule, the Zhanjiang Seafood Trade Fair and the China International Trade in Services Fair (CIFTIS) are about to be defined.
AQUAEXPO. The Aquaexpo Guayaquil congress will have the participation of at least 30 national and foreign speakers, who will update knowledge on animal health, nutrition and food management, quality and safety, efficient production processes, use of new technologies and market projections shrimp.
In 2020, Aquaexpo had the participation of more than 60 national and foreign companies linked to the industry, and the congress had 30 international and Ecuadorian exhibitors.
