FARC will enter into Colombian politics
On Wednesday, the Colombian government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) signed an agreement that could lead the rebels to enter the political life, without the use of weapons for the first time in fifty years.
Congressman Ivan Cepeda said that the agreement “is a great victory for peace.” While Ivan Marquez, chief negotiator and number two of the FARC, said that “the important aspects that so far have been agreed on the issue of participation put Colombians in the possibility of beginning to open the doors of a true democracy.”
According to the document, representatives of political movements, popular and social resulting from the eventual peace agreement will have a “transient” representation in the House of Representatives
