“Conceited” was the epithet used by President Rafael Correa to refer to legislators Oswaldo Larriva and Fernando Bustamante, who disaffiliated from Alianza PAIS (AP) this week, claiming internal differences.
“They are honest people, but vanity killed them,” Correa said yesterday in an interview with local media, in La Libertad (Santa Elena), a coastal village he visited to hold the itinerant cabinet and broadcast today his weekly address.
AP Bustamante dissaffiliated from AP last Thursday. Weeks ago, the National Ethics Commission of the political movement sanctioned him for abstaining from voting in favor of the package of constitutional amendments.
