Fernando Villavicencio denounces irregularities in oil contracts and calls Rafael Correa traitor to his country

The investigative journalist on oil issues, Fernando Villavicencio, in an interview with Ecuavisa, referred to the drawbacks of recent contracts with the Schlumberger and Trafigura companies.

About Schlumberger, he said that the government has granted to them the Aucas oil field, considered the ‘crown jewel,’ an awarding that could only be given in a dictatorial regime, as there is no contractual figure in the Hydrocarbons Law that justifies that contract.

According to Villavicencio, the operation of a field that produces 65,000 barrels of light crude at a rate of $ 25 a barrel is being granted to an oil services company.

About Trafigura, he recalled that in 2008 President Rafael Correa himself accused that company of being a mafia. Despite this, the government continued hiring the liquefied petroleum gas forecast of the aforementioned transnational, but the company breached the contract in 2011, by which Flopec and Petroecuador declared Trafigura as an unreliable contractor, and for five years the company could not enter into contracts in the country, that was in 2011.

For Villavicencio the Government is embarking on a desperate search for resources after having squandered oil and taxes revenues. “With the broken pockets they have dedicated to an international pilgrimage begging loans to pay debts and the deficit of the national treasury.”
