Final stage of the indigenous march was escorted by police officers
Since its departure from Machachi and until its arrival at Guamaní, south of Quito, the indigenous march has been accompanied by a group of policemen. The police formed a cordon at each site the mobilization stopped.
The police clarified that the intention was to protect the integrity of the protesters, especially on the road. Also to avoid clashes with some people that from their vehicles insult the Indigenous.
Yesterday, before entering Guamani, the organizations unveiled the third decree they have signed in the roughly 860 kilometers they have walked so far. This requirement ratifies the immediate demand to file the constitutional amendments, the repeal of the Water Resources Act and the suspension of negotiations on the Free Trade Agreement with the European Union (EU).
It is scheduled that today the march comes from Guamani at 09:30 to reach El Arbolito park and join tomorrow the national strike that has been called by various sectors to protest against government policies.
