The investigation carried out after the fire on the building Las Camaras, last July 2 in the north of Guayaquil, Ecuador, involved the owner of the company Tecnoredes and fourth technicians.

Last Tuesday the prosecutors’ office started the investigation on the supposed intentional homicide, which has a maximum penalty of two years in prison. According to the investigations of the prosecutors’ office, the company Tecnoredes gave maintenance to the cable work inside Tower A.

Due to the fire of Las Camaras, three people died along with an unborn child, the mother of the child will live handicapped; hence the prosecutors’ office has 90 days to continue with their investigations. The Heritage City Attorney, Ana Ramos, made a request of preventive prison to the five people, but the Criminal Judge of Guayaquil, Guadalupe Manrique, only gave alternative measures.

The prosecutors’ investigation also discovered that the personnel of Tecnoredes entered Tower A after the event. AV
