Firefighters battling flames at a factory north of Guayaquil
At approximately 07:45 AM on Tuesday March 19 a fire broke out in the tenth stage of the citadel Alborada, north of Guayaquil. The flames came amid an industrial park in a toy warehouse where it is believed the fire originated.
About 500 members of the Fire Department gathered at the site trying to put out the fire, they worked repeatedly against harsh conditions due to the highly flammable material that was kept in the hold. A large cloud of black smoke could be seen for most of the north of the city.
Residents of the area feared that the flames spread through the residential area. Until the end of this article there were huge waves of fire through the thick black smoke.
Recently, the first chief of the Fire Department of Guayaquil, Colonel Martin Cucalon, reported “fire has been controlled, but it burned a hold of chemicals and plastics.” Then said firefighters continue refreshing the site.
