First Olympic Flame Lit This Morning
This morning, at the Trafalgar Square in London, lit the first Olympic flame of the Paralympic Games 2012, to be held from August 29 to September 9.
Athlete Claire Lomas, first person to complete the marathon in the British capital with a bionic suit, was responsible for igniting the flame.
This ceremony was attended by David Cameron, British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, Mayor of London, and Sebastian Coe, chairman of the Games Organising Committee (LOCOG).
Besides London, the Olympic flame will visit the cities of Belfast, Edinburgh and Cardiff on 25, 26 and 27 respectively, before arriving at the Olympic Stadium in Stratford on Tuesday, August 28, a day before his arrival at the stadium.
Meanwhile, the symbol of the Games, known as “Agitos” was hung on the River Thames in London Bridge.
