Five lawsuits against the amendments are ready
There would be five claims of unconstitutionality and two requests for referendum to overturn the amendments to the Constitution, adopted by the Assembly.
All the pressure will go to the Constitutional Court. Marcelo Larrea, of the Democracia Si Movement, yesterday demanded answers: they submitted, eight months ago, a request for a referendum. The body has not yet issued a prior opinion on the constitutionality of its seven questions.
According to Larrea, Ecuadorians through this process will be able to decide whether to maintain or not the constitutional reforms.
But they will not be the only ones. At least five political and labor sectors are already working on their demands. Some will be against the entire package; and others against specific amendments.
