Foreign Ministry requested the comptroller to report all trips abroad

The Ecuadorian Minister of Foreign Affairs, María Fernanda Espinosa, asked the Office of the Comptroller General of the State for a special examination of the expenses of all trips made abroad, the Foreign Ministry reported today.
The holder also of Human Mobility requested that the analysis be carried out since the current comptroller took office, in May 2017 to the present, with the aim of “transparent and verify compliance with legal and financial procedures.”
In the request Espinosa states that the official´s trips abroad have taken place “in order to fully implement the objectives and goals of Ecuador’s multilateral, regional and bilateral foreign policy,” as well as to assist the president, Lenin Moreno, in his international agenda.
“The displacements have been duly planned and supported by the resources and budgetary sources that have been approved for this purpose and assigned to the portfolio under my charge,” said Chancellor María Fernanda Espinosa at the office. (I)
