Anex-collaborator of María Alejandra Vicuña, when she was a legislator between2011 and 2013, points out that she has asked for financial contributions to keep his position. This is recorded in an affidavit dated October 26, 2018.

It is Ángel Polivio Sagbay, who resides in the canton of Gualaquiza, in the province of Morona Santiago. He presented his statement before the notary Maria Portilla Bastidas, of the Tenth Notary Public of Quito. The document indicated that he worked in the then legislator’s office between June 1, 2011 and May 31, 2012.In that period, he reported that he worked as an assistant to Vicuña’s office and during those twelve months, he assures that he deposited the amount of USD300 in the current account he had in a bank. “This contribution was requested to me directly by María Alejandra Vicuña, as an option to give me the position of assistant of her office; she told me that it was a mandatory contribution for the Alianza Bolivariana Alfarista (ABA) movement, “read sthe statement.

Later,he said he was promoted to advisor in Vicuña’s office and that she would have asked him to increase the contribution directly. This would have gone to USD1,400 for twelve months, between June 1, 2012 and May 1, 2013, which lasted the contract. “Everything stated above I declare under oath (…) of what has been declared, there is full proof and evidences of deposits in the Account State of my Savings Account …” Sagbay said in the document.

Vicuña referred to this statement at the Guayaquil Airport on the morning of this November 27, 2018. The Vice President dismissed the accusation as infamy.”The infamies are solved in the judicial way as they correspond. So we will inform you in due course, but there are many issues to be concerned about the country and not about slander and infamies that have no head or foot,”she said.

Prosecutor Ruth Palacios, earlier, informed that there was no formal complaint but that the institution would act ex officio. “You have to gather information from the direct source.” For the legislator of the Correista group, Marcela Aguiñaga, for ethical principles and transparency, Vicuña must answer for their actions to the Plenary of the National Assembly.
