Former custodian of Correa’s wife reappears and offers to contribute to the investigation of the Gabela Case

The ex-captainof the Air Force and the Former custodian of the wife of former PresidentRafael Correa, Diego Peñaherrera, has said in a telephone interview with RadioSucesos that he has files that could contribute to the investigation of theassassination of Jorge Gabela, Air Force General, he is willing to collaboratewith justice.
Peñaherrera, who has resided in Mexico for three years, said that the people who made the technical report that suggested the acquisition of the Armed Forces equipment should be investigated. And that in addition to the DRHUV helicopters, the purchase of the Cheeta planes and the Chinese radars that were acquired by the air institution should be reviewed.
Peñaherreraassured that there was no common crime or organized crime in the assassinationof Gabela. “What happened is there was a concealment of political powerbehind the Gabela case.” Peñaherrera said his departure from the ArmedForces was because of pressures from power. “They incriminated me to getme out of the way,” he said.
