Maria Eugenia Cordovez Ponton, ex wife of former President of Ecuador, León Febres-Cordero, died Sunday morning in Guayaquil.
Mrs. Cordovez, who was known for her charisma and strong character, served as First Lady from 1984 to 1988, time when Febres Cordero was President of the Nation.
During that period, she chaired the National Institute for Children and Family (Innfa for its Spanish acronym).
Several messages of condolence sent to their family, were published through the social network Twitter.
It was mentioned that the cause of death was cardiac arrest. Visitation will be held in room 1-2 of Cemetery Parque de la Paz in Samborondón.
