Fundamedios presents report with 174 attacks on freedom of expression
The Andean Foundation for Media Observation & Study (Fundamedios,) published a report which registers that the 2013 was the year with more “aggressions” against freedom of expression.
174 aggressions against media, journalists and citizens during 2013 are presented in the report, compared to the 172 reported in 2012, according to ANSA.
Public officials registered 82 attacks, while the State registers 53 cases by “abusive” administrative and legal measures. The study also mentions that 16% came from “stigmatic speeches” by authorities and public figures.
The report claims that the President appears as an habitual offender of journalists and citizens when he felt offended by their opinion.
The report was presented regarding the Journalist Day, held last Sunday.
