Galo Lara´s extradition could be extended six months or more
Posted On 26 Aug 2014
The extradition of Galo Lara, arrested in Panama on June 9, could be extended six months or more, said Guillermo Cochez, defense of the former assemblyman.
Cochez noted that since yesterday, the defense has 15 days to file objections before the Supreme Court of Panama, the same that can reject them or approve them. If approved, the process would be sent to the Foreign Ministry of Panama accepting the extradition, he said.
He added that the Panamanian President, Juan Carlos Varela, has the last word.
Galo Lara was sentenced to 10 years in prison for alleged complicity in the triple crime registered in Quinsaloma, Los Rios.
