Google Introduces Boutiques.com

Posted On 17 Nov 2010

According to a Mashable publication, Google has recently introduced Boutiques.com, an online personalized clothing store. Users not only will be able to search and see fashion items on the site, but also they will have the opportunity to create their very own online boutique.

Boutiques gives advice to the ones interested in changing their wardrobes, the site generates possible combinations chosen by fashionistas with exquisite taste in clothing and by  pre-established algorithms in a machine. On the upper area of the web page, 50 handpicked clothing items are displayed, the rest of the garments have been chosen Google algorithms.

The website features search filters, which enable users to specify gender, size, color, shape and silhouette; thus, visual searches are also available, outfit pictures are analyzed, so that the garments are classified by color, shape and pattern and show similar results in later searches.

Boutiques suggests outfit combination tips—which are shown at the right side of the results—. Google’s online fashion shop is only available for women in the U.S. (it will soon be available for men and other countries) and it has developed an app, which can be downloaded for free on the iTunes store and it can be installed in iPads as well.
