Government contributes 6.8 million dollars in machinery for road maintenance

The president of Ecuador, Lenin Moreno, delivered today inthe coastal city of Guayaquil heavy machinery valued at 6.8 million dollars tothe Ministry of Transport and Public Works for road maintenance in the country.
“We are filled with great joy this delivery will bevery useful for road maintenance throughout the country, but this is just thefirst delivery because it is already planned to buy more equipment that willarrive soon,” said Moreno during the ceremony of delivery of machinery.
As explained, the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF)approved a loan for 192 million dollars for the road maintenance program.
The maintenance and supervision of a total of 10,000 kilometers that make up the road corridors of the country, reduce travel time and reduce traffic accidents, in addition to increasing tourism and trade, said the president.
For his part, the Minister of Transport and Public Works, Aurelio Hidalgo, thanked the official delivery of 31 new heavy vehicles – thirteen loaders, fourteen excavators and four motor graders – and said that they had not been renewed in a decade.
He also added that the maintenance of the roads will allowthe preparation of the troops for the winter stage. (I)
