Government dissolves the National Union of Educators

The Ministry of Education has notified the National Union of Educators (UNE) on the dissolution of its legal person, as stated by the president of the teachers Rosana Palacios.
The decision was taken despite the teachers’ union requested to declare null any administrative act that dissolves the UNE, because the reasons for taking that decision are still not clear for the teachers.
For Palacios, this is a legal fact with a political background and therefore he is discussing with lawyers the appeal to the decision of the Ministry of Education. Ciro Guzman, one of the lawyers, said that “there is no relevant motivation” to dissolve the UNE, and the rules that were allegedly violated by the union are not specified, according to daily La Hora.
The Ministry of Education contends that the UNE failed to register its board, however, Rosana Palacios says are the state authorities are the ones that have delayed that process.
