Government plans to pay “foster families” to accommodate earthquake victims

The government plans to pay “foster families” to house the homeless left by the powerful earthquake that devastated the coast of the country and which leaves more than 600 dead and 12,000 wounded, said Saturday president Rafael Correa.

“Our preferred strategy is going to be what is called foster families. That will be paid with those resources we have abroad, with the resources we are getting from the measures taken, to foster families to receive the affected families,” said Correa in his weekly work report (I).
