Government removed restriction for raw materials imports

At the meeting between entrepreneurs and the Government, the private sector expected modifications to the standards of quality of the Ecuadorian Institute of standardisation (INEN). The official response that no action will be repealed, but particular problems will be reviewed.

 
In addition, the Coordinating Minister of production, Richard Espinosa, said that next week, during 15 days, foreign trade Committee (Comex) will meet to review each item of legislation with the objective of removing the raw materials from the restriction. The Minister clarified that the Government never intended to hinder the entry of raw materials for the production.
 
Other requests from the entrepreneurs pointed to deadlines to apply the new rules. According to Roberto Aspiazu, Executive Director of the Ecuadorian Business Committee, it is cause for concern that the Government has as a goal to reduce 6 billion dollars in imports until 2017. In this regard, Espinosa insisted that the regulations are subject to review.
