Government will allocate $ 150 million to acquire 500,000 induction cookers
The Government would allocate some $ 150 million to acquire 500,000 induction cookers, that will be delivered between April and May 2015 to beneficiaries of the Human Development Bond (BDH for its Spanish acronym), in exchange for gas stoves, said the Minister of Industry Ramiro Gonzalez.
“The private sector (…) can offer us roughly 70,000 monthly kitchens, but what we really need is almost the double monthly (…) Now we hope that China can help us with these 80,000 kitchens more,” he said.
He also clarified that kitchens will not be free but rather BDH beneficiaries will receive a credit through stores with electric utilities companies. Then there will be a discount for purchasing the device from the electricity bill. Gas stoves would go to a scrappage plan.
