Guayas farmers benefit from technified irrigation systems

Posted On 20 Jun 2020

At the least 528 farmers in the rural area of Guayas, working together with the Directorate of Productivity of the Provincial Government , will benefit from the implementation of irrigation systems tecnificados for their plots, which will improve their production of their crops.

Guayas farmers benefit from technified irrigation systems

The project , which is in a first inspection stage , prioritize the producers of cocoa, bananas, corn and grass , that have duly legalized land at the least one hectare. Its objective is to provide irrigation water to areas that do not have enough liquid to grow or where there is no natural irrigation throughout the year.

The inspections will serve to identify the conditions of the land and the viability of the works. In one of the last visits of the staff of the Prefecture , carried out on Tuesday June 16 at the La Monserrate campus , in the canton of Balzar, five possible beneficiaries were registered.

Don Humberto , a 70-year-old agricultural producer, was pleased with the project , since he considered that “it would help us tremendously, since one can plant what he needs at any time. Here I want to put grass to buy some cows or plant corn so that I can survive, he said.

Similar opinion was expressed by Líder Mera, representative of the Centro Agrícola de Balzar, who believes that “with this technified parcel irrigation we will have better opportunities.”

Jonathan Rugel, technician of the Productivity Directorate of the Prefecture , assured that with this work the field workers will have a notable improvement in their productivity , since there are those who irrigate with buckets or flood systems that waste vital liquid and do not allow them take advantage of cultivation capacity. ( I )
