Guillermo Lasso, present at the CREO protests in Quito and Guayaquil.

Posted On 04 Apr 2017
The presence of presidential hopeful Guillermo Lasso on Monday at the National Electoral Council (CNE) attracted his supporters to the place where the CREO-SUMA Alliance installed a platform so that people express their dissatisfaction with the electoral results issued by the electoral authorities.
In Quito, the demonstration expanded on Monday to the avenues close to the CNE, as groups of people closed the vehicular passage in Eloy Alfaro, Los Shyris and República avenues, which complicated the traffic. They called for a recount of votes. At 20:30 on Monday they set fire to tires at the intersection of the Los Shyris and Eloy Alfaro avenues.
Lasso went to the Guayas Provincial electoral delegation at 20:00. There he thanked his supporters for staying in place despite the heavy rain. He also asked them to protest peacefully after reiterating that he will not accept the results given by the CNE and that grant the victory to candidate Lenin Moreno (Alianza PAIS).
