Guillermo Lasso ratifies his promise to dismiss the Attorney General and the Comptroller General

Posted On 17 Mar 2017
The presidential candidate of the CREO-SUMA alliance, Guillermo Lasso, endorsed his proposal to remove the representatives of the control bodies appointed by the Citizen Participation Council through a referendum.
Before a walk through the center-north of Quito, the candidate explained that the appointment of both the attorney general and the comptroller general should have been postponed.
The least that should happen in a normal democracy is to postpone the appointment of judiciary authorities until the inauguration of the new government. But “there is no problem, as of May 24 we will call a referendum so that the citizens will be the ones who decide to send home the officials of the Attorney General´s Office, the National Audit Office, and the National Electoral Council,” said Lasso.
Faced with the question about an alleged transfer of his estate to his children in offshore companies, Lasso stated that his estate is in Ecuador and is public and that everyone knows him. “I have worked, not like the corrupt people in the government that cover the Odebrecht list,” he stated.
