Gustavo Petro is reinstated as mayor of Bogotá

“In this case, the law ordered me to reinstate the Mayor Petro and I have signed the decree for the reinstatement in office of Mayor Gustavo Petro. This decision is simply to comply with the law, I have no choice”, said President Juan Manuel Santos.
These statements were made yesterday, after a court ordered the restitution to his post to the Bogota, Mayor Gustavo Petro, in a term of 48 hours.
The defense of Petro reported that the Bogota Superior Court ordered President Juan Manuel Santos to comply the precautionary measures granted by American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) and reintegrate him.
Petro was dismissed over a month ago by Santos, after receive a request by the Attorney General and rejecting a request from the Commission.
