Hillary Clinton Urged India to Reduce their Iranian Oil Importations
Posted On 07 May 2012
This morning, the Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton urged the Indian authorities the reduction in imports of Iranian oil.
Clinton also stated that the development of an atomic bomb from Tehran would be “devastating to the world.”
India “is reducing its purchases of Iranian oil. We commend the steps taken so far but hopefully they will be more important,” Clinton said at a forum in Calcutta, India.
The former first lady said she believes that there is an oil supply “adequate” in the markets to compensate the reduced purchases of Iranian oil. Clinton also stressed that Iran could cause “problems” to India and recalled the attack on Israel’s embassy in New Delhi in February, which is suspected to involve Iranian agents.
